The piece called "Rise" has been made especially for The Box, a micro project space consisting of a floating white cube set inside a black vertical opening. The Box is a unique architectural space through which the gallery facilitates new projects with important emerging and established artists. Other commissions include Ai Weiwei, Martha Rosler, Daniel Arsham, Olaf Breuning, Trenton Doyle Hancock and David Batchelor.

To launch our new collection the Chalayan Grey Line, we asked a few photographers and bloggers to interpret and shoot the collection in their own style. The series of works we’ll post over the next couple of weeks are the outcome of this collaboration with these young talents.

Yesterday we opened our very first stand alone retail environment the Chalayan online store http://chalayan.com/store. The virtual store features the newly launched into the market Grey Line collection. Grey Line is a younger capsule collection which offers the Chalayan customer cool signature Chalayan pieces at a lower price point from the runway collection. Select pieces from the runway collection, Chalayan Black Line, will also be available for sale along with our perfume Airborne which is produced by Comme des Garcons and Hussein Chalayan’s book Hussein Chalayan published by Rizzoli. Exclusive to our store are Chalayan bags and newly launched sunglasses which will be available from March.

To help us celebrate the launch of the Grey Line collection we asked eight photographers and bloggers (Rosa Rendl, Jeff Hahn, Hanna Putz, Marian Kihogo with Phill Taylor, Nicole Maria Winkler, Lixx Diaz, Haruki Horikawa, Quentin De Wisper) to interpret the collection in their own way through a series of images and a film. We exhibited these works during our London fashion week party at Somerset House on Sunday and will show you each work over the course of the next weeks. Our friends the Tiny Dragons played an amazing set for party goers, Belvedere provided tasty summery drinks and DJ Anisa Daniels kept the party going. Friends of the brand like architects Zaha Hadid, Ron Arad and Farshid Moussavi, came by as did Sally Singer from T Magazine, Musician David Byrne, artists Julie Verhoeven and Ahmet Ogut and writer Elif Shafak among others.
